Van - Build

I started out with the equipment storage, building a frame structure made of 2x4s that are attached to the studs put in before. It holds the 2 windsurfing boards and 3 sails The bike is “leaned” against the frame and secured at the tires with a little wooden clamp and an elastic band at the top. Very effective and easy to use for everything – I love it!

Next, I framed out the kitchen with sink, refrigerator and stove in a similar way after I cut two holes in the floor and sealed them appropriately. One is for the water drain and the other one is for the diesel exhaust.

Thirdly, I put in the seating area, which includes the bench, the table and the two original seats on swivel bases.

The fourth step was installing the bed. I used two closet doors due to their low weight and filled them with PU foam to increase stiffness. One panel was mounted to the equipment storage and the second panel was connected via lever to make room for the mattress when the bed is folded.

Fifth, cabinets for clothing (left) and storage of larger camping equipment and food pantry (right) was installed.

All wood, studs and panels are from home depot.

The storage compartment is fitted with panels , access doors and a folding chair (towards the right). The hook towards the back his the bike holder. One part of the queen bed is fitted to the top of the storage

The second panel of the bed is attached via a hinge to the first panel. The foam mattresses are attached to the panels.

The queen bed unfolds over the kitchen. Two beams on either end support the bed from below. A removable piece of the foam mattress closes the gap between the 2 panels. It takes less than 30 seconds to make the bed

The seating includes a bench, the table and the two original seats on swivel mounts. 3 people can enjoy a meal together.

The refrigerator (black furniture on the left) is easily accessible from the sliding door.

Curtain rods are fitted and I sewed the curtains. Overhead cabinets were installed last to store the sleeping attire on one side and food items on the other side.

Loaded for a roadtrip across the States - backcountry skiing, windsurfing (3 Riggs & 1 board), mountain bike and hiking. There is plenty of additional storage space for food and clothing
